Тип записи:Публикация, Constructing the Terminological Core of NLP Ontology(2023-09-13) ;Zhanna B. Sadirmekova ;Madina Sambetbayeva ;Elmira Daiyrbayeva ;Aigerim YerimbetovaThe basis of any intellectual resource is a knowledge base, which, based on the basic terms of the field under consideration, builds relationships between them. Therefore, the first task to building multilingual information system using Natural language processing (NLP)in scientific and educational activities will be the development of a multilingual dictionary on modern NLP methods, including terms in Kazakh, English and Russian. For its construction, linguistic models for semantic dictionaries and thesauruses will be used, as well as methods of automatic extraction of terms from the corpus of texts of a given subject area. In this paper, a system of concepts of the NLP domain will be formalized, which will form the terminological core of the NLP ontology. To systematize information and provide support for multilingualism and accessibility, we plan to apply ontological engineering methods to systematize information and build the upper levels of the NLP ontology (its terminological core) using the dictionary of terms obtained at the previous stage. The ontology developed by us can later become the conceptual basis for a multilingual information system used in scientific and educational activities using NLP. This system will provide systematization of all information, convenient navigation on it, integration into a single information space, as well as access to it.Цитирования (OpenAlex) 3Цитирования (OpenCitations) 3 - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, Symbolism of the Sacred Dog: A Mytholinguistic Approach in Kazakh and English(2024-12-18); ;Raushangul Аvakova ;Sholpan Kudyarova; Nurgul NygmetovaThe image of a dog holds a special place in the culture and mythology of many peoples. This study examines how the dog became a sacred symbol associated with the afterworld, ancestral land, and subterranean realms. Using mythological texts, archaeological data, and linguistic analysis, the research identifies unique cultural and universal patterns in stable expressions about dogs in Kazakh and English. The study employs S. Qondybay's mytholinguistic method and comparative analysis to uncover the sacred and symbolic meanings of these expressions. The findings reveal that the dog is often seen as a guardian of the afterlife and a protector of human souls. The research highlights how specific cultural and linguistic features—unique to certain ethnic groups—are preserved in language. It also demonstrates the continuity of ancient mythological beliefs in modern expressions and rituals. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the connection between language, culture, and mythology, offering new perspectives for mytholinguistic and cultural research. - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, Cross-Linguistic Analysis of Latin-Derived Terms: Implications for Language Policy in Multilingual Societies(2024-12-29) ;N. Ilyassova; ; ;Dana PashanҮеshimov MukhtarThis study investigates the influence of Latin-origin words in the Kazakh and English languages, focusing on terms related to "experience" and "problems." The research analyzes the etymology, modern usage, and challenges arising from the incorporation of these terms into Kazakh, a non-Latin script language. The study highlights the role of Latin-derived vocabulary in modern scientific, technological, and academic discourse, and the unique linguistic and cultural challenges it presents in Kazakh. A comparative analysis of the Kazakh and English terms for "experience" and "problems" is provided, emphasizing the nuances of meaning, connotation, and cultural differences in their use. The study also discusses the tension between modernization and linguistic purity in Kazakh, considering the impact of globalization on native language development. The relevance of this research lies in the growing significance of Latin-derived terminology in non-Latin script languages, particularly in the context of globalization. The study explores how Latin-origin words are both shaped by and reshape the cultural and linguistic landscape in Kazakh and English, contributing to the ongoing discourse on language standardization, bilingual education, and cultural preservation in the face of globalization. The findings underscore the complex interplay of language, culture, and global interconnectedness, presenting implications for future linguistic policy and language planning, especially within multilingual societies.
