Development of environmental competence of students through facilitation technology

This article is a part of the long-term work of the author, which continues to this day, devoted to the study of the problems of the formation and development of environmental culture and environmental competence of the individual. The authors share their experience in developing students’ environmental competence through facilitation technology. The authors reveal the concept of ‘facilitation technology‘, as well as its essence and main methods. Directly, the technologies ‘World Cafe‘ and ‘dynamic facilitation‘ are revealed, which were used by the authors in the course of work with students. In the article describes in detail the methodology for using ‘dynamic facilitation‘, ‘World Cafe‘ in the educational process with students in extracurricular work to develop the environmental competence of the individual. The author reveals their essence, as well as the role of a teacherfacilitator in the organization and use of these technologies for the development of students’ environmental competence. Also, the authors reveal the concepts of ‘competence‘ and ‘environmental competence‘, their essence through the analysis of research and opinions of scientists. Further, the article provides a description and results of the study, which in turn proves the effectiveness of facilitation technology in the development of students’ environmental competence.

Currently, the modernization of the education system and the introduction of updated regulatory documents have set new tasks for the entire education system of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the solution of which requires the introduction of active, innovative methods and technologies. One of the active methods and technologies is the facilitation technology, which includes various methods and technologies, of which the authors propose the technology of the World Cafe. In this article, the authors reveal the essence of the technology of the World Cafe, and also offer its adapted version for use in preschool institutions in order to develop children's collectively creative and collectively cognitive activities as one of the main directions of socialization of children's personality. The authors of the article reveal the concepts of "collective creative" and "collective cognitive" activity of an individual. The analysis of scientists' opinions on this problem is given. In addition, the article describes the technology of the World Cafe, adapted in accordance with the age-related psychological characteristics of children. The article also describes a pedagogical experiment that was conducted in the preschool institution "Aigolek" in Semey in three stages – the ascertaining, the forming and the final. The authors of the article consider the State mandatory standard of preschool education and training in order to identify educational areas in which the technology of the World Cafe can be used. Based on the opinions of research scientists, as well as on the results of an experiment that showed positive changes in the process of teaching and educating older preschool children, the authors recommend using various methods of facilitation in working with children in accordance with their age characteristics.

The research problem is based on the study of the possibilities of expanding methodological approaches, educational technologies, and educational programs for the implementation of blended learning and increasing the level of its effectiveness in the educational system of Kazakhstan.This study aims to identify the best conditions for implementing blended learning that would meet the technical capabilities of the university, the educational programs, and the interests and needs of all participants of the educational process.For this, the following data collection methods were used: online surveys, quantitative and qualitative analyses, and facilitation tools, such as World Café , Future Volume 16 (2024), Issue 5 Search, ranking, and Spearman's correlation analysis.The results show that more than half of the students (58%) and teachers (65%) were not satisfied with the existing structure of blended learning at the university.This research suggests involving all participants in the educating process when adopting the blended mode of learning to enhance the efficacy of the blended learning program.The practical significance of this research lies in its determination of the optimal conditions for implementing blended learning in the university programs of Kazakhstan.The engagement of all stakeholders in the Learning pathway in decision-making regarding hybrid education, taking into account the technical capabilities of universities and the individual needs of students and instructors, aims not only to address current issues but also to enhance the quality of education and prepare graduates to meet the demands of the contemporary labor market.Such an approach to research and innovation implementation in Kazakhstan's education could foster the development of more flexible, adaptive, and effective educational systems that meet the requirements of the modern world.
