Тип записи:Публикация, Parental reflexivity and latent psychological violence among urban parents in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan: an exploratory study(Frontiers Media, 2026-09-30); ; ; Marhabbat NurovIntroduction Parental reflective functioning (PRF) has been associated with less harmful parenting behavior and a lower likelihood of intergenerational continuity of violence. However, little is known about whether the association between parental reflexivity and psychologically harmful parenting differs between fathers and mothers in Central Asia. This study examined parental reflexivity, measured using A. V. Karpov’s Reflexivity Scale as an operational proxy for PRF, and its association with latent psychological violence among urban parents in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Methods A cross-sectional multi-city study was conducted in Almaty, Shymkent, Turkestan, and Bishkek. The analytical sample ( N = 400), drawn from a larger dataset ( n = 500), included 158 fathers and 242 mothers. Measures included reflexivity, aggression, empathy, latent psychological violence (ILV), uyat intensity, and family-of-origin violence. Analyses comprised parent-group-specific regressions, bootstrap coefficient comparisons, hierarchical moderation models with a PRF × parent-group interaction, and robustness analyses using recruitment-site fixed effects, robust standard errors, the full sample, parent-group weighting, and additional family-context covariates. Results Reflexivity was strongly inversely associated with latent psychological violence in both parent groups. The PRF–ILV slope was descriptively steeper among fathers than mothers ( b = −0.900, R 2 = 0.485 vs. b = −0.779, R 2 = 0.417), but the difference was not statistically significant ( z = −1.27, p = 0.204; 95% bootstrap CI [−0.320, 0.067]). The PRF × parent-group interaction was also nonsignificant (Δ R 2 = 0.002, p = 0.201). Among highly reflective parents with family-of-origin violence, none of five fathers met the exploratory high-ILV threshold (ILV ≥ 70), compared with 1 of 7 mothers; this difference was nonsignificant ( p = 1.000). Family-of-origin violence was associated with lower reflexivity among both fathers ( d = 0.64) and mothers ( d = 0.74). Discussion Parental reflexivity showed a robust inverse association with latent psychological violence, but formal analyses provided no evidence that this association differed between fathers and mothers. The descriptively steeper father association should therefore be regarded as hypothesis-generating rather than as evidence of a father-specific effect. These findings support further longitudinal and intervention research in urban Central Asian populations. - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия

The study uses a comprehensive theoretical framework combining Human Capital, Gender Role, Gendered Organization, Professionalization, and Intersectionality perspectives, derived from prior research on the topic. It relies on qualitative phenomenological case study design analyzing data from 30 semi-structured interviews with women leaders from the two countries. The study reveals the relevance of Institutional theory to complement the theoretical framework arising from prior research. Implications of the results of the study are discussed in terms of their relevance for global research on the topic and for domestic policies aimed at promoting the representation and advancement of women in the labor force and leadership in particular.Цитирования (OpenAlex) 3Цитирования (OpenCitations) 2 - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, The role of teacher selection criteria and preparation on teacher self-efficacy, satisfaction, and commitment: an analysis of Kazakhstani TALIS data(Taylor & Francis, 2023-03-01) ;Matthew Gordon Ray Courtney ;Mehmet Karakuş ;Elaine Sharplin ;Daniel HernándezJanet HelmerIn Kazakhstan, an increasing school student population, low rates of graduates entering the profession, and high novice teacher attrition have made the attraction and retention of quality teachers a critical issue. To investigate this problem, the authors draw on the 2018 TALIS dataset involving a survey of 5201 Kazakhstani teachers from 275 participating schools. The study, framed by Chapman’s teacher attrition model, uses a nested data design. As an outcome variable, the authors make use of a corollary of attrition, the self-reported career commitment variable in the Kazakhstani TALIS dataset. The analysis suggests that teachers who enter the profession with enhanced altruistic tendencies have improved self-efficacy and job satisfaction. Further, teaching-as-a-first-career-choice appears to drive both job satisfaction and career commitment, while learning to manage behaviour and mixed-ability settings also appears to drive improved long-term career commitment. Implications for teacher education and research in other Central Asian and post-Soviet countries are offered.Цитирования (OpenAlex) 8Цитирования (OpenCitations) 6 - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, Central Asia in a changing world: Understanding the impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflictThis study aims to analyze the geopolitical realignments and economic repercussions in Central Asia that have resulted from the Russo-Ukrainian conflict.Specifically, it explores the challenges that have emerged in the established relations between Russia and the Central Asian states, with a focus on the concerns over dependence on Russia. The imposition of Western sanctions on Russia has had a complex impact on trade relations and economic conditions in the region, prompting the Central Asian states to reconsider their ties with other global actors. The study employs a qualitative methodology to examine the political, economic, and security aspects of these relationships, drawing on empirical data, official statements, and scholarly literature. The findings highlight notable shifts in the geopolitical self-perception and diplomatic postures of the Central Asian countries, indicating a growing sense of independence and agency in international affairs. However, the declining influence of Russia exposes potential risks and opens the door for other global powers to step in.Consequently, the paper argues for Central Asian leadership to develop a comprehensive and strategic understanding of these dynamics to balance immediate benefits with long-term regional stability and prosperity.Цитирования (OpenAlex) 5 - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, Trans-Caspian International Transport Route: A Kazakhstani Perspective on Challenges, Opportunities, and ProspectsThe sustainable development of transport and logistics systems and projects is one factor for the successful development of states and an indicator of integration processes in certain regions, including Central Asia. This study is devoted to the analysis of some aspects of the diversification of the external transport and logistics infrastructure; namely, an assessment of the potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) from the perspective of the Republic of Kazakhstan. While the route is useful for trade in multiple sectors, this paper will focus on the shipment of petroleum products via the TITR. Despite the absence of restrictions on the transit of goods to Europe through Russia, there are serious challenges to increasing the delivery time. The development of transport and logistics infrastructure is also relevant for Kazakhstan in the context of its new foreign policy role in the international arena to strengthen interregional cooperation. This requires serious attention and research into potentially promising routes. One of these routes is the TITR. Its development can significantly strengthen the economic position of Kazakhstan and strengthen its diplomatic potential. Along with this, there are several challenges and difficulties that need to be analyzed and overcome.Цитирования (OpenAlex) 5Цитирования (OpenCitations) 6 - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, The Influence of European States on the Establishment of Democratic Power in the Republic of KazakhstanAbstract This study examines Europe’s democracy, rule of law, and human rights efforts in Kazakhstan. Historical, comparative, institutional, structural and functional analysis were used to investigate the issue. The study assesses Kazakhstan’s political system after independence, formulates Brussels-Astana cooperation areas within the EU Strategy for Central Asia, determines the state’s prospects for liberalization of the political regime, and describes democratic transit in the post-Soviet period. The constitutional reform of 2022, which sought to transform Kazakhstan’s state model, was also examined, as were the reasons why the EU has failed to promote democratic reforms in Central Asian republics since diplomatic relations were established. The study can be used in research and applied industries by researchers interested in democratization in the post-Soviet space and political processes in Central Asia.Цитирования (OpenAlex) 1Цитирования (OpenCitations) 1 - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, Climate-Induced Transboundary Water Insecurity in Central Asia: Institutional Challenges, Adaptation Responses, and Future Research Directions(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, 2025-06-15) ;Yerlan Issakov ;Kaster Sarkytkan ;Tamara Gajić ;Aktlek AkhmetovaГ. Е. БердыгуловаThis study conducts a comprehensive and systematic literature review, guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol, to investigate the impacts of climate change on closed lake systems in Central Asia, with a specific focus on Lakes Balkhash, Issyk-Kul, and Urmia. Based on a detailed analysis of 74 peer-reviewed studies published between 2000 and 2025, this review identifies key thematic patterns and bibliometric trends in the literature. Findings reveal that most studies emphasize hydrological stress, glacier retreat, and an increasing drought frequency, while institutional adaptation and transboundary governance mechanisms remain underdeveloped and inconsistently implemented. National-level adaptation strategies vary considerably, with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan showing a relatively higher engagement, though rarely supported by enforceable cross-border agreements. This review also highlights the limited participation of local research institutions and insufficient empirical validation of policy measures. The bibliometric analysis indicates that most high-impact publications originate outside the region, particularly from China and Germany. This study provides a structured synthesis of existing knowledge and identifies critical avenues for future research and policy development. It calls for more inclusive, transdisciplinary, and regionally embedded approaches to water governance in the context of accelerating climate risks.Цитирования (OpenAlex) 6 - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, International Terrorism as a Threat to the National Security of the Countries of Central AsiaThe study is highly relevant due to the conjugation with the phenomenon of globalisation of regional integration processes. Because of the processes of regional integration and loosening of the state structure of many countries in general and countries of Central Asia in particular, there has also been an increased threat of international terrorism undermining global security. This study aims to analyse the prerequisites for forming international terrorism and extremism in the region. For this, the study deployed several methods, such as the theoretical method, the method of logical analysis, the method of deduction, the method of induction, the dogmatic method, and others. The study revealed that Central Asia's states have a rather crucial geopolitical significance due to the availability of energy resources and geographical location, particularly for participation in international integration projects. But at the same time, the development of countries is hindered by terrorist threats stemming from the large number of internal problems that provoke this phenomenon. It was noted that international terrorism is a serious challenge to the functional development of Eurasian integration. The main prerequisites and directions for the development of terrorist activity were identified, and, importantly, an analysis of the identified factors on the regional security of the Central Asian states was carried out. It was also revealed that at the present stage, there is a prospect of increasing the activity of terrorist, extremist, and separatist groups in the region. To counteract the spread of these phenomena, an integrated approach of a global orientation was proposed, which will provide an opportunity to increase the level of national and international security. - Некоторые метрики заблокированы вашиминастройками согласия
Тип записи:Публикация, UNDERSTANDING THE CONTRIBUTION OF TURKIC PETROGLYPHS TO CULTURAL TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN CENTRAL ASIA: A SYSTEMATIC AND META-ANALYTIC PERSPECTIVE(Editura Universitatii din Oradea, 2025-10-06) ;Yerlan Issakov; ;Zhulduz Nizamatdinova ;Shakhislam Uzakbaevich LaiskhanovDuman Toktaruli ALIASKAROVThe petroglyphs of Central Asia represent a distinctive form of symbolic and visual heritage that is gaining relevance in scholarly debates on cultural tourism, regional identity, and sustainable development. Although their archaeological importance has long been recognized, their integration into contemporary tourism planning remains conceptually fragmented and underexplored. This study provides a systematic and meta-analytic synthesis of scientific literature concerning petroglyphs in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. Through bibliometric analysis, it identifies dominant research themes, leading institutions, and international collaboration networks. The results confirm increasing interest in the educational, symbolic, and experiential tourism dimensions of petroglyphs. However, the review also highlights thematic and geographical imbalances, particularly the underrepresentation of certain regions and a scarcity of robust empirical studies. The meta-analytic component shows a moderate positive effect of petroglyph-based heritage on cultural tourism development. Kazakhstan emerges as the leading academic node in this domain. The study does not attempt to establish causality but seeks to clarify how petroglyphs have been conceptualized in scientific discourse over the past two decades. Bibliometric mapping shows strong correlations between publication volume and heritage-centered national strategies. Research also indicates that digital tools, such as 3D modeling and GIS, are increasingly employed to preserve and interpret petroglyph sites. Despite these innovations, community-based approaches remain limited, signaling the need for greater local engagement. By linking rock art research with tourism studies, digital humanities, and heritage policy, this article outlines potential directions for more inclusive, interdisciplinary, and empirically grounded future research. Ultimately, the findings support the notion that petroglyphs are not only remnants of the past, but dynamic resources for interpreting identity, enhancing tourism sustainability, and fostering cultural continuity within the evolving framework of regional development in Central Asia. These insights may guide policymakers, researchers, and cultural institutions in shaping integrative strategies. Further efforts should aim to connect heritage preservation with inclusive tourism, education, and long-term regional resilience. Strengthening regional cooperation and cross-border heritage initiatives may also amplify the role of petroglyphs in sustainable cultural development.Цитирования (OpenCitations) 1
